Mary Shea

Mary is a physiotherapist who has over 10 years of clinical practice experience, with an extensive background in sports and rehab. She completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (USA) in 2009 and a Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University (AUS) in 2015. She holds a current CSCS certification (certified strength and conditioning specialist), and is an APPI -trained clinical pilates instructor, allowing her to integrate strength, movement, and rehabilitation into her work.

Having spent most of her career in private practice, Mary has much experience assessing and treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions. She has a particular interest in injury prevention, optimising movement quality, and functional rehabilitation. Her treatment approach focuses on identifying the underlying contributors to pain and injury through comprehensive assessment of movement, biomechanics, and postures. She also incorporates manual therapies and dry needling to complement active rehabilitation in the clinic setting.

Mary's background as an athlete has strongly influenced her clinical approach. She competed in NCAA Division I field hockey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2005 to 2009, serving as team captain in her senior year. In 2012 she was selected for the USA National Indoor Field Hockey Squad, and has also worked as an assistant collegiate field hockey coach. Since discovering rock climbing in 2015, Mary has developed a passion for the sport and the climbing community. By combining her physiotherapy career with her experience as a climber, she understands the unique physical demands of climbing
